Food Resource Centers

Immediate need assistance services including food, clothing and shelter referral. Information and referral for individuals and families.

An evidence-based nutrition education and obesity prevention program providing healthy food choices to low income families while teaching them how to better leverage their CalFresh benefits and improve their overall health.

 

Case Management

Provides homeless individuals and families as well as the working-class poor with case management to help identify and eliminate barriers that are the cause of a current crisis.

Homeless Men’s Services

Provides short-term emergency shelter and case management to homeless men, day laborers and farmworkers.

 

Homeless Women’s Services

A broad range of services for homeless women in San Diego and Imperial Counties. Services include a drop-in center, night shelter, independent living and affordable housing. This holistic approach assists homeless women in moving from homelessness to shelter to permanent housing.

Refugee Services

Assists newly arrived refugees and asylees to achieve integration and self-sufficiency by offering cash assistance, cultural orientation, case management, employment services and other assistance. Only agency in California awarded five consecutive competitive demonstration projects by the federal government to test private-sector alternatives to welfare for refugees (continuous since 1990). Only resettlement agency in the Catholic Charities network awarded the Department of State’s highest ranking, Commendable, in two consecutive tri-annual evaluations.

Foster Grandparents

Fosters family reunification, economic empowerment, and social integration by providing low-cost, high quality services that enable eligible immigrants and refugees to obtain legal immigrant or citizenship status. Accredited by the Department of Homeland Security.

Provides unique opportunities for seniors age 55+ to give back to their communities through service that includes mentoring and tutoring special needs children/youth and those who are struggling academically.

 

Healthcare Coverage & CalFresh Benefits

Senior Nutrition

Provides nutritional meals for seniors 60+ through the Home Delivered Meal Program for frail homebound seniors, and 10 Congregate Meal sites located throughout the county.

Covered California is the only place where Californians can get federal premium assistance to help buy private, brand-name health insurance under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Call and talk to one of our Covered CA Certified Enrollment Counselors. 

 

Shopportunity Thrift Store

Serves the community by offering a variety of household items, clothing and furniture at economical prices. All merchandise is donated and the sales proceeds help support the Food Resource Center.
