Providing seniors with a nutritious noon-time meal, the opportunity for socialization, and other needed services.

Program Description
The Senior Nutrition Program consists of meals served in a congregate setting and meals delivered to seniors who are home-bound. Varied menus are approved by a licensed dietician and contain balanced and nutritious meals that provide at least one third of the daily Recommended Dietary Allowance set by the US Government.
"More than just a meal", however, this program offers the opportunity for ambulatory seniors to eat with friends, participate in social events, receive important information and connect with other valuable resources. For the home-bound, the daily contact with staff or volunteers is often the only interaction they have.
Who is Eligible?
- For congregate: anyone 60 years of age or older and their spouse who dines with them, regardless of age.
- For home-delivered: anyone 60 years of age or older who is home-bound and frail by reason of illness or disability; their spouse and any disabled member of the household, regardless of age, may also be eligible.
What does it cost?
Although state and federal funding helps to support this program, each participant is asked to make a contribution for each meal. The suggested donation amount is posted at each congregate site and published in the monthly menu and newsletter. No one is denied a meal, however, because of the inability to contribute.
How do I get a meal?
Catholic Charities operates three senior nutrition programs: East County and South Bay (San Diego County) and Imperial County. To participate in the congregate meals component, simply call or visit one of the sites listed below. Most locations begin serving lunch at 11:30 A.M. Reservations, however, are recommended. Transportation to some congregate sites is available. Call for information. For Home-Delivered meals, call the number referenced below.
