Mission: To provide women 50 years and older a safe, supportive and sober home environment in which residents have the opportunity to end their risk for homelessness, become economically stable, find permanent housing, and establish community support.

Established in 1980, the House of Rachel was the first transitional residence for homeless women in San Diego Country. The House responded to the need for intervention beyond available short-term emergency shelters by providing a home for up to 24 months where women received needed resources, support and housing to gain financial and personal stability and to reconnect to their communities.
In its 25 years of operations, the House of Rachel has provided 25,341 bed nights to 968 women and helped them to become self-reliant and contributing members of the community, to achieve their goals, and to resolve their homeless circumstances.
