Mission
The House of Hope is a 23 bed emergency sheltera clean, safe, and sober home environment for women and their children.
Principles
- To provide shelter for homeless women and their children for 30-90 days.
- To provide three meals and two snacks per day for residents.
- To maintain a safe child-oriented facility that includes outdoor play equipment, indoor play area and appropriate age-specific toys and books.
- To provide consistent daily activities and structures that foster a sense of safety and security for residents.
- To encourage co-responsibility among residents for maintaining a clean and orderly dormitory and bathrooms and to assist mothers in teaching these skills to their children.
- Provide educational activities for women including parenting skills, computer and sewing classes, grooming and self-care skills and assistance with applications and government forms.
- To teach mothers appropriate communication and progressive discipline skills in the interaction with their children.
- Model and teach considerate, respectful and kind treatment of all residents and staff.
- Assist residents with their goals of securing permanent housing and increasing their self-reliance.
- To maintain professional staff who demonstrate patience, kindnesss, fairness and respect for House of Hope residents and who provides a listening, supportive presence.
