Program Mission
To provide a financial base for St Francis Center's Emergency Assistance Program by offering the community quality goods at affordable prices in a pleasant environment.
Program Overview
Used clothing, furniture and household items are sold at reduced rates. Proceeds from the sales are used to support the Center's Emergency Assistance Program. Particularly valuable furniture, jewelry, and collectibles are sold on eBay and in a special section of the store.
Program History
The Thrift Store originated as a program of St Francis Parish in 1978. Used clothing was sold in order to purchase food for the Parish Food Pantry Program. In 1990, with the growth of the program, a store front was rented to accommodate the flourishing services. In order to strengthen and expand its outreach, the program merged with Catholic Charities in 1995. A corps of 35 volunteers, working in half-day shifts once a week, insures that the work of the organization continues.
Program Needs
- Volunteers to sort, display, and sell donated items.
- Clothing, furniture, jewelry, household appliances, computer and electronic items, toys and collectibles.
